The Cathedral is open from 0800 to 1745 all year round. (We close at 1300 on Christmas Day)

Occasionally events taking place in the cathedral might make it necessary restrict access to parts of the building. Before travelling to visit the Cathedral you are advised to telephone to check the current situation.

Guided Tours are offered by the Honorary Guides at 1130 and 1430 on Weekdays, 1130 and 1400 on Saturdays and 1430 on Sundays. Tours for visiting adult parties can be booked through the Cathedral Office +44 (0) 1727 860780.
Leaders of school parties should contact the Cathedral Education Centre +44 (0) 1727 890212.

Given the heavy demands on the use of the Cathedral, large groups that have not booked in advance may be refused entry. The free tours on offer twice a day are not suitable for large groups, who should book a tour in advance.

There are facilities for disabled visitors who should enter by the east end Slype door. There is a Touch and Hearing centre and a braille guide plan. The public address system has an inductive loop facility and hearing aids should be tuned to 'T'.

Travelling to St Albans

By Rail

St Albans is about 23 minutes from London Kings Cross on the Thameslink
service through Central London from the South Coast and Gatwick to
Luton and Bedford. The Silverlink service via Watford connects St
Albans with the North London line and the West Coast main line to
London Euston and Scotland.

By Road

Close to the M1, A1 and M25 St Albans is easily accessible from all parts
of the UK

By Bus and Coach

St Albans has a comprehensive local bus network with services from
North London, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Luton and Watford. The
Green Line service links St Albans with London Heathrow Airport and
West London through to Harlow in Essex.

By Air

Both Luton and Stanstead Airports are close by with flights to many
European cities and connections to the rest of the world. St Albans is
easily reached from London Gatwick and Heathrow airports.
